Research field: Cryogenic opto-mechanical design, infrared detector, astronomical intrumentation
Description of the research project:
Philippe Vallée has worked for many years in the design of astronomical cameras. Specialized in infrared instruments, he has worked on numerous projects including SIMON and CPAPIR, two cameras used at the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic. He has also collaborated on numerous international projects including: WIRCAM, a wide-field camera for the Canada-France-Hawaii telescope (CFHT); GPI, a spectrograph for the Gemini telescope; Sitelle, an interferometer for the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT).
He is currently working on the following projects: SPIROU, an echelle-spectrograph for the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT); NIRPS, an echelle-spectrograph for the ESO 3.6m telescope.
