The search for the Higgs boson at the ATLAS experiment

This presentation discusses the latest results of two of the most sensitive searches of a Standard Model Higgs boson at the ATLAS experiments. These analyses search for Higgs bosons decaying to two photons, or to four electrons and/or muons. Both these analyses show slight "excesses" over background that might be from a Higgs boson with a mass of about 125 GeV. Using the 2012 ATLAS dataset, which is currently being recorded, we expect to be able judge if this is indeed a significant excess or a statistical fluctuation. The search for Higgs production via vector boson fusion, and the associated experimental challenges will also briefly be discussed.
