Professor Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo is appointed to the College of the Royal Society of Canada

Julie-Hlavacek-LarrondoThe Center for Research in Astrophysics of Quebec (CRAQ) congratulates Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo of the Université de Montréal (UdeM), and member of the CRAQ, for her appointment to the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC).

Canadian astrophysicist Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo, a professor in the Département de physique at UdeM, holds the Canada Research Chair in Observational Astrophysics of Black Holes. Engaged in advanced research in high-energy astrophysics and extragalactic astrophysics, she conducts research whose main objective is to understand the influence of supermassive black holes on their surrounding environment and, ultimately, to identify their role in the formation and evolution of galaxies.

About the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists

The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership. It comprises a fourth entity (along with the current three Academies) within the Royal Society of Canada. The Members of the College are Canadians and Permanent Residents who, at an early stage in their career, have demonstrated a high level of achievement. The criteria for election is excellence, and membership is for seven years.
